The Southern West Midlands Newborn Network aims to promote the best quality care for all babies.

We have a number of key objectives that are all aimed at developing a sustainable service that ensures mothers and babies are treated in the right place, at the right time and by appropriately skilled staff.

Working together as a network enables the concentration of skills and expertise where they are required, offering families’ access to appropriate levels of care as close to home as possible whilst minimising transfers for intensive care.

The Network values the input of parents and works closely with BLISS. We have parents involved in all aspects of our work. Details of which can be found within the website under the dedicated parents section.

Working together within the network will lead to improved outcomes for our patients, through sharing ideas and good practices with each other, as well as joint learning opportunities.

Our aims will be achieved through a variety of network activities. These include strategy and capacity planning, development of a newborn transport service, the production and implementation of standardised clinical guidelines, patient information resources and shared education events.
