Medical Education

Education and training of trainee doctors as well as the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for the senior doctors are among the key measures for ensuring excellence in neonatal care within the network.

The Senior House Officers in neonatology receive dedicated neonatal teaching through the Regional Neonatal SHO Study Days organised on the second Wednesday of each month. It is envisaged that the Staffordshire, Shropshire and Black Country Newborn Network in collaboration with other networks in the region will provide opportunities for Neonatal Life Support courses to the SHOs very early in their neonatal post (or even before).

Provision of Neonatal Transport Study days will help provide much needed training in this area for the middle grades within a multidisciplinary environment.

Details of training programmes and education resources developed for staff within the network will be added to this page as they become available.
