Network Practice Educator - 2 posts

An opportunity has arisen for a senior neonatal nurse with experience in training and education to apply for the post of Network Practice Educator in the neonatal units in Shropshire & Staffordshire.

Post 2 - Temporary 9 months maternity leave cover

An opportunity has arisen for a senior neonatal nurse with experience in training and education to provide maternity leave cover for nine months 1 February – 31 October 2009 for the post of Network Practice Educator in the Staffordshire, Shropshire and Black Country Newborn Network. The post is available as either a secondment opportunity (subject to negotiation with your existing employer) or as a temporary contract.

The Staffordshire, Shropshire & Black Country Newborn Network provides services for all babies from referral in-utero or birth until discharge from neonatal/ maternity services.

 The network consists of six neonatal units based in the following hospitals:

  • New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton
  • Royal Shrewsbury Hospital
  • Staffordshire General Hospital
  • Manor Hospital, Walsall
  • Russells Hall Hospital
  • Dudley Groups of Hospitals
  • University Hospital of North Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent

 The Newborn Network has a number of key objectives that are all aimed at developing a sustainable service to ensure that mothers and babies are treated in the right place, at the right time and by appropriately skilled staff, through implementing the recommendations of the DOH “Report of the Neonatal Intensive Care Service Review Group”   

The network has funded two Practice Educator posts to provide an integrated network wide professional development programme which encourages a culture of continuous improvement ensuring high standards of neonatal care (one based in the neonatal units in Shropshire and Staffordshire and the other based in the neonatal units in the Black Country)

For either of the above posts you must have neonatal nursing specialist knowledge and practice at a senior clinical level with proven teaching skills. You will demonstrate commitment and have a good track record showing evidence of leadership and innovation in neonatal nursing.
